Shelburne, Vermont - Lilac Festival

The Vermont Lilac Festival is experienced in Shelburne, Vermont, just about 15 miles south of Burlington.

Every year from mid to late May, the grounds of the art and American paradise of Shelburne Museum explode into a brilliant array of purples and whites; with a blooming of the Museums World famous lilacs. Over 400 lilacs in 90 varieties are on the Museums scenic 45 acres.

The Trapp Family Lodge is owned by the Trapp Family, who were the inspiration for the classic movie, "The Sound of Music". The Trapp Family moved here to Stow, Vermont because it reminded them of home, where they could see the majestic mountain tops and grow colorful gardens. Here you can enjoy a lunch buffet and the exquisite grounds of the lodge. Experience the beauty of the Maria Van Trapp's gardens, where you can find Edelweiss, Europe's best known white flower.
